The hot spot – Edna, part 10

I’ve worked really hard on this and I’m not going to bore you with the details. I’m cutting right to the chase.

Since my last post I’ve worked out a few things. I know exactly who E is, but I definitely don’t know her, she’s a stranger to me. I’ve also worked out how the common names of Williams, Collman and Weston tie together in a big red bow.

It looks like this:

I made a heat map of my shared DNA with the mysterious E and the mystery matches – the ones with family trees attached. There are loads more mystery matches but they don’t have trees.

A quick explanation of the heat map – I used the family trees of my mystery matches to work out which Collman, Williams or Weston family member each match is descended from. I then fit them on the tree roughly where they belong without disclosing their names or the names of people in the tree who might still be living. To understand the DNA numbers, quite simply, the higher the number the more DNA I share with that person.

If this group of mystery matches connects me to MG, then MG is probably descended from Thomas Collman and Augusta Weston.

Mr and Mrs Collman were having babies in and around Waterloo, Redfern and other parts of Sydney in the 1880s and 1890s. You might recall that Edna grew up in Waterloo and Redfern from 1909 – which might or might not be relevant to the Collman story at some stage.

The MG (mystery great) Grandmother story was a study of two sisters and it took me ages to untangle it and be sure which one was mine.

You won’t believe it but it looks like this MG Grandfather story is going to be a study of three brothers!

I’ll keep you posted.
